Definitely should consider American House East 1
The staff is friendly and available. There appears to be very little turnover, which is refreshing. Showers, laundry and housekeeping is done on a consistent schedule. The facility is clean and nice looking. The staff has some gems. There isn't anyone I would say that is unhelpful. The Activities Director has something planned daily and they do a good job including everyone. The food is plentiful and looks delicious. I would recommend that families at least visit this facility. Everyone has different needs, but we are pleased that we moved mom here.

A lot more accountability would work wonders!
A few of the staff are excellent. Many are on their cell phones more than working. The head nurse that is available 24/7 is very good and extremely helpful, but they have her taking care of 2 facilities. The workers know this. They know which days there is no way she's going to drop by and it shows. Their activity schedule says that there are a lot of daily activities, but many are non-existent. And on the weekends, zero activities actually happen. The activity guy is M-F, 9-5. If it's outside of that, forget it. It's false advertisement. I don't want to move my loved one. She likes the facility. I toured and investigated online lots of places. This place, hands down, was the best. No place is perfect. Good workers are hard to find, especially in this industry. Stillllllll- I think that there are some small things that could be different to make it a spectacular place.

Maybe they are good compared to other memory care places, but I think there is room for improvement.
The same as anywhere you go, there are good staff and bad staff...it is hit or miss.
I have seen a lot worse places...... I was hoping for better though. Guess I have to give them a C grade

Recommended
We moved my Mom into American House Freedom Place Roseville in March and have been very pleased so far. I wish she had the money to stay there for many years . I suppose they are on the higher cost end, based on what I've heard . We likely could have found something cheaper if we'd been willing to move her further away. It's a lovely facility and has been such a relief knowing she's being cared for around the clock and most importantly, she is safe. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

Your Loved One will feel Independence at Freedom House
Its a good value for the money. They keep it cleaned and residents stay clean. The best thing about it, is the feeling of independence for the residents.

Not equipped for memory care
The building does not lock down and there is at least one door with no lock or alarm. My loved one was there for 6 weeks, went through all health assessments and my family was very transparent about personality, stage of dementia, and concern of flight risk. One evening I received a call from Michigan state police that my loved one was found walking outside the facility, on a main road at night. American House did not even know my loved one was gone. They tried to make me pay for 24/7 monitoring on top of thousands of dollars in rent, plus refused to put a lock on the door b/c they said it was a fire hazard. Without hesitation they terminated my loved one's lease b/c they said they could loose their license and we had to conduct the move over Christmas which was an absolute nightmare for my family. They provided zero support on the transition. I never spoke to a doctor and they put my loved on a medication we did not authorize.

A nice community
The lady who gave our family was the tour was great - she was so involved and knew all of the residents name. All of the employees we encountered during our loved ones stay were super friendly and based on our experience we would recommend them to other families.

Above and beyond staff

Being Taken Care of By A Good Staff
American House is a very friendly place. If you are not in memory care, there is a lot of options for the residents. However, in memory care they don't offer much. The staff are excellent to work with, if we have questions or concerns about our loved one.
My loved one doesn't care for the food. There are hardly any desserts for the residents, and the taste of the food could be improved.
The community is able to assist with medication management for my loved one.
There is laundry, housekeeping, the room, medication management, three meals a day, and activities are included in the monthly fee. Music activities is what has been offered for activities. It would be nice to see other options such as card games, memory games, arts and crafts, or more for the residents to participate in.

Absolutely wonderful!
My mother needed to transition from rehab to memory care in a hurry. A Place for Mom put me in touch with [name removed] at Freedom Place in Roseville, MI. [name removed] was and is amazing! I met with her on a Monday and within eight days my mom was ready to move in. There was a lot to accomplish and she worked with me and the rehab center very closely to make it happen in record time! The entire staff at Freedom Place are wonderful and they work hard to make all the residents feel comfortable. Kudos to [name removed], [name removed] and everyone at Freedom Place, Roseville!

Highly recommend
The staff here are very attentive, your loved one is not left alone and is getting acre continuously throughout the day. They are also attentive to family's needs as well. Always easy to call and get a hold of somebody if you needed to. As far as the food goes, the taste was good, it was not being served well. It is all packaged in Styrofoam and had plastic silverware which was extremely difficult for someone with mobility issues to use. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.
