Help in Moving
Moving in was very smooth. The man who helped was cheerful and efficient. The admission process was also very good. The facility is quite nice with a feeling of an old high class hotel rather than an industrial feel some places have . If ever I find myself in need of assisted living CVSC would be at the top of my list.
About the facility Champlain Valley Senior Community
The beautiful Bouquet River borders this cozy, little community on one side while an expansive grove surrounds the opposite side. The serene sounds of flowing water combined with the picturesque views provide residents a peaceful atmosphere. Residents can enjoy the breathtaking scenery from the comfort of their home or take a stroll along the walking paths to view the nearby historic waterfall.
The traditional building holds a rich history — it used to be Willsboro’s original grade school. The community still retains some of its original charms, such as the oak arch entryway and tall windows. Minimal restoration has been done to the community in order to provide residents with an elegant and familiar environment. Locally owned and family-operated, Champlain Valley has been offering assisted living and memory care options for the retirement community of Willsboro since 2013.

A truly caring place!!!
Everyone who’s employed here knows each patient and where they are at any time we arrive for a visit. My sister has been more social here than at any place for the last few years. I feel her care is excellent.

Friendly and attentive staff
My mother moved in to CVSC about a week ago. So far, it has been a positive experience. The facility is clean, well-maintained and quiet. The staff are friendly and attentive and do their best to accommodate the residents. The administration is readily available to address any concerns and welcomes feedback from the residents and their families to improve their services.

CVSC is a well run community. The aids, the maintenance staff and the administrators work well together to offer top notch care and a kind loving and supportive environment for residents and their families.

A great place, great care for those special to us!
Searching for long-term care for loved ones is a daunting task. Our family was fortunate to find the Champlain Valley Senior Community in Willsboro, New York. Our father suffers from dementia and was in need of care that we simply could not provide at home. The folks at Champlain Valley are kind, compassionate and caring, all you can ask for in a facility that is looking after a loved one.
The facility is beautiful, clean, peaceful and provides a wonderful view of the Bouquet River.
Living out of state, we appreciate the regular updates and communication from staff, keeping us apprised of his condition between visits. Champlain Valley is a gem of the North County.

Difficult Decisions
Dealing with the staff at Champlain Valley Senior Community has been such a help, right from the beginning. They are all interested in the residents, showing kindness and patience in every interaction. They quickly respond to various needs.

A Happy Place
My mother just passed away at 94 after living at CVSC for the past 14 months. My mother and I were both very pleased with the amazing staff and the high quality of services they provided to me as a family member and to my mother as a resident.
CVSC leadership and staff are well trained and dedicated to the happiness and well being of the residents. Of course issues can arise in any such setting but when they do the issues are minor and addressed fully.
My mother also received a week of end of life care from Hospice and the CVSC Staff who tended to my mothers needs as well as mine while I stayed with her during her last week of life. This is a rare community of well trained caring people. You won’t find better anywhere else!

Highly recommend, great facility
We found that anything that was going on as far as any issues problems they had, they were right ton top of it. They took care of things quickly, they checked on my parents frequently, and there was nothing we had to wait for a resolution on. I would absolutely recommend Champlain Valley to other families looking.

The facility is beautifully appointed. It looks wonderful when you come in and the rooms are more than spacious; but there's not enough staff to take care of your loved one.
The staff are pushed to their limits doing multiple jobs from janitorial work to patient assistance. They try, but it's not enough. There aren't enough staff for the community to be at capacity occupancy, and not enough safety. Safety is lacking because they aren't able to consistently check in on residents and make sure they're okay. Everything was effected by their lack of staff. The young lady I mostly dealt with was very quick to return calls and get my attention; but she was so overwhelmed with everything going on there, including the lack of support and staff. They have a system where the "med tech" is basically a nurses aide. I don't believe he was more than a nurses aide and therefore should not have been administering medication(s). There was also the fact that staff had to come in on overtime to do housekeeping, which was ridiculous to me. It's just not a good atmosphere in regards to being/needing a diligent caregiver.
If they would limited their occupancy and hire staff according to a resident to staff ratio, it would be better. The staff I encountered for the most part were excellent. The day I got there and found my sister on her bathroom floor, the young lady who helped us had a radio where she communicated with the rest of the staff. Someone in the dining room came over the radio and asked if anyone was available to help bring residents down to lunch. She didn't respond because she was trying to call 911 and help us. A second call came through and the person asked again, "Is anyone available to help bring people down?". Again, she didn't reply because she was still helping my sister. A third call came through and the person says, "Hello hello, is anybody out there?". This all happened within a 5 minute timespan; so it appeared that no one else in the community was available to assist with residents. Some of the staff claimed they had checked on my sister 15 mins before, which could have been possible. But I got so many conflicting reports, nobody had the same story although I asked the same question many times. It was hard to give any credence to their claims because of that.
As a business person I understand why they would want to have their rooms and numbers full; but that doesn't equate to good care. Because of that I did not have a good experience, and I would not recommend Champlain Valley to anyone who were to ask.

The staff members get 10 stars they are wonderful, and our loved one absolutely loves the meals and dining services. Given everything that is going on our loved one does really enjoy the activities.

My review of Champlain Valley Senior Community
The staff team here really extends themselves to our loved one, our loved one there is a flight risk and they made sure to get her a room not by a door. It is a very unique old school place that has been renovated for assisted living and memory care only. We can only go in so far with the restrictions so were excited to see everything once it opens fully. The people really work with our loved one, you know one size does not fit all with memory care and they have really worked with her. Our loved one definitely keeps the staff team on their toes and gives them a run for their money.

I was impressed they went above and beyond
The community was super clean, and the staff members were absolutely awesome we could not of picked a better place for our loved. The care services were amazing they went above and beyond. Even with the covid restriction they still made efforts when it came to the activities, and we thought the value was worth it. We were very impressed with the owner, our loved one had many medical things wrong and he personally came to the house to speak with us and our loved one on what to expect at the community. We can't tell you how wonderful they were, this place just really stood out.

Warm and friendly staff members
Champlain Valley Senior Community is a very warm, friendly, and a home like environment. We chose it due to the proximity to my home. The room sizes here are varied depending on what you want, you can get small or large. My dad loves the food and they go out of their way to make it restaurant quality. They always invite family to stay for meals, every time I have had it it has been very good. My favorite part about the community so far would be how welcoming they have been with my dad. They have been so loving and caring to him, he came from FL and he did not know anyone. They have made him feel a part of everything right away.

End-of-life-care
We looked at all the local memory care options for our mother when her dementia, combined with her high mobility and good general health, made it too difficult to care for her in our home. We found CVSC offered the best care at the most reasonable price, in the most comfortable, safe and least restrictive environment. She was always well cared for at CVSC. The staff were friendly, skillful and engaged with all the residents in the memory care. They make accommodations for each resident's ability and preferences while keeping everyone safe; this is not a one-size-fits-all institution. The staff and administration were proactive in communicating with us, whether for behavioral changes, small injuries, or required trips to the hospital.
Critically, COVID precautions were followed by everyone, and the building was COVID-free when other local nursing homes were not. Finally, our whole family was well-supported at the end of our mother's life, when hospice was called in to oversee her care. Because of CVSC's enhanced license, the hospice nurses were able to work seamlessly with the regular CVSC staff; the hospice professionals stated that they found CVSC's end-of-life care to be exceptional, and the best available in the area. We have every reason to believe that is true!

Home away from Home
My parents were at CVSC for almost six years. The staff became family. I never worried about the care my parents were getting. The facility is beautifully decorated and very homey. Pricing is excellent. A gem in the heart of Willsboro!

Great place to live!
It's amazing to see the attentiveness taken to restore this historical building and make it a warm and inviting place to live! Living costs are very reasonably priced and competitive with state and national averages. The variety of activities offered continues to grow in accordance with resident preferences. Very impressed!!

Everything is Great !
This community was the best choice for my friend. He is doing so well here. The staff holds an introduction meeting prior to the new resident moving in so they have a history get a sense of likes and dislikes of the person which I thought was very nice. The room is set up just like an apartment so there is enough room very spacious. The staff is amazing they know the residents by a name they go and visit with my friend they are very personable here. He loves doing the activities and social hours. The food is very good apparently he is putting on weight which was one of our goals. I would recommend this community.

Very nice memory care unit
My loved one is in their memory care unit, and overall I think they've done a great job taking care of her. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the facility itself is clean and nice looking. We're very pleased with them overall.
